Sustainability at Peppers The Hills Lodge
Our Sustainability Initiatives
At Peppers The Hills Lodge, Castle Hill, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving the way we operate. Through considered choices across our accommodation, dining, meetings and day-to-day hotel operations, we aim to create a more sustainable experience for our guests while caring for our local environment.
Reducing Single-Use Plastics
We are working to reduce and remove single-use plastics wherever possible throughout the hotel. Our initiatives include:
- Full-sized shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in guest rooms, reducing the need for individual single-use amenity bottles.
- Guest amenities such as shower caps, vanity kits and toothbrushes are available on request and provided in recycled packaging.
- Removal of plastic straws and single-use plastic cups.
- Removal of single-use plastic water bottles where possible.
Energy Efficiency
We continue to improve energy efficiency throughout the hotel with initiatives including LED lighting and keycard-operated power in guest rooms, helping to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
Environmentally Conscious Cleaning
We choose environmentally friendly, eco-certified cleaning products wherever possible, helping us maintain high standards of cleanliness while reducing our environmental impact.
Supporting Local Suppliers
Where possible, Peppers The Hills Lodge works with local suppliers, helping to support businesses within our community while reducing the environmental impact associated with sourcing and transportation.
Recycling
Back-of-house recycling practices are in place across the hotel to help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and encourage responsible waste management throughout our operations.
More Sustainable Meetings & Events
We are continually looking for ways to make conferences, meetings and events at Peppers The Hills Lodge more environmentally conscious. Our initiatives include:
- Removing conference notepads on request and encouraging delegates to use laptops and tablets for note-taking.
- Using recycled toilet paper and hand towels.
- Providing jugs of water for delegates rather than individual bottled water.
Return and Earn Recycling Program
Peppers The Hills Lodge proudly participates in the NSW Return and Earn recycling program, helping eligible drink containers stay out of landfill while supporting a circular economy through container recycling.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. At Peppers The Hills Lodge in Castle Hill, Sydney’s Hills District, we will continue to review, measure and develop our operational practices to identify new opportunities to reduce waste, conserve resources and minimise our environmental impact.
Through small, considered changes across our hotel, restaurant, accommodation and conference facilities, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable future while continuing to provide the comfortable and welcoming experience our guests expect.
